“I am Australian with problems for Swedish written grammar… I will save you the torture and myself the embarressment, and write in English instead ;)” -Justin Ohlsen

SMPC has started off with a massive bang since our launch, with introducing the SMPC2015 SM in PC modding, where we have organized together with our partners over 100 000kr of awesome prizes and high end enthusiast PC hardware.

What a massive year it has been for Swedish PC modding, where the PC modding scene has really taken off and blown everybody’s expectations. I just this short time that SMPC has been around, we have seen some of the most beautiful and complicated PC mods that has ever been produced so far by our community. A community that we are proud to be a part of.

We judges went through every project album with a fine tooth comb, and read the complementary information sent in by all contestants. We then went through and placed a number of 1-5 for each project, where one(1) being the lowest and five(5) being the highest that any project can score. After we had went through each and every project, we tallied the scores, but came across a problem. 3 projects had the same score, and all tied for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. This was not going to be easy.

Once again we poured through all of the images that our community members had posted up of their modding projects. Once discussion was over, we did a blind vote of each of these three projects, and came up with some exciting results!!

So without further adieu, here are the results!

To check what each prize winner will receive, I refer you to this linked article.

1st place winner
Björn Hall – W2AX2-front

(Justin) Björn hall showed us what kind of level one can achieve with a keen eye for detail and a sense for style. The understated tone of this project gives it a feeling of exclusivity with it’s clean lines, brushed aluminium details and attention to even the smallest details. Björn has gone to the extreme of removing the anodizing on most fabricated PC parts and sanded them so that even these parts match the theme which is seen throughout the entire project.

2nd place winner
#12Tim Pettersson – FRAMED

(Justin) FRAMED is a project which screams attention to detail in every single way. This is a prime example of how a modder will change the chassis so that it compliments the way it looked when it left the factory floor, as opposed to changing it entirely so that it is no longer recognisable when compared to the original product.

3rd place winner
Daniel G Ask – TatamiSMPC2015

(Justin) Tatami is an engineering masterpiece which has so many intricate details that it makes my head spin! Technically this project is marvellous, with it’s brushed black panels, recessed arylic windows which sit flush with all of the panels and own made CPU and GPU waterblocks, plus many more exclusive details make this project above and beyond most other PC modding projects!

4th place winner
04 - urt53dHAlexander Ydgén – Novo Mini

A small custom built chassis gives more power per cm2 than most any other ITX PC chassis on the market. And to be able to fill this chassis with water cooling earns the Novo Mini 4th place.

5th place winner
pandora-done2Håkan HP Persson – Pandora Copper

A well thought out PC mod with some smart solutions make the copper theme and clean lines pop out to us judges, and earns it’s spot as 5th place winner in this years modding competition.

In Win Challenge winner
0i6gJclJoachim Sjølander – S-Frame

The winner of our In Win Challenge is this beautiful black/white/blue S-Frame project made by Joachim. I do believe this is the 4th time he has rebuilt this PC with different coloured themes…? Maybe the 5th version? Nice work regardless. The In Win Challenge article is found here.

MSI Challenge winner
11David Per Longcat Modig – Chandra

Our MSI Challenge winner is David with this nice project Chandra. He is sporting some MSI AMD R9 290 graphics cards cooled by mayhems coolant and EK Water blocks. The MSI Challenge article is found here.

“Bara För Att Jag Kan” Challenge
IMG_6726Linus Sjögren – Legolan 2.0

This special prize goes out to Linus Sjögren and Legolan 2.0. An awesome concept which gets higher votes due to the programming involved to make the Lego figures dance in tact with the music. Nice stuff!

This has been an amazing experience and a privilege to be involved with SMPC and the judging of the SM. I would like to really thank our judges Hannes and Johan who have spent many hours with me researching, discussing and deciding the winner of our SM for 2015. Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you to everybody who had participated by entering our SM.  We at SMPC are so pumped to see what 2016 has to offer!!

Also a big thanks to our sponsors In Win, MSI, Intel, be quiet!, Swerigs and Inet – making SMPC2015 come true!
